Project Overview:
DCFL partnered with Wharton-Smith Inc. to execute the Medulla Elementary School Road and Drainage Expansion project, which is focused on enhancing roadway access and stormwater management at the school. This project included the construction of additional roadway access and parking on the west side of the school, as well as improvements to the site’s stormwater systems. DCFL delivered a streamlined and efficient solution that prioritized safety, functionality, and sustainability.
Scope of Work:
This project involved:​​​​​

Land Clearing and Excavation:

Cleared over 0.9 acres to prepare the site for construction.

Hauled off over 600 cubic yards of material.

Excavated over 1,900 cubic yards of soil to expand the storm ponds and create new drainage pathways.

Roadway and Parking Construction:
-
Over 1,100 square yards of new asphalt, including base and subbase layers, were installed.

Constructed over 1,000 square yards of new concrete paving to accommodate additional parking.

Sidewalk and Curb Installation:

Over 1,300 square yards of new sidewalks were installed for safe pedestrian access.

Over 800 linear feet of new curbs were installed to support the roadway and manage water runoff.

Stormwater System Improvements:

Over 150 linear feet of 6-inch storm drainage pipe were installed to enhance stormwater runoff management.

Expanded the existing storm ponds to handle increased capacity and improve site drainage.

Landscaping and Erosion Control:

Installed over 3,200 square yards of sod to stabilize the site and improve its appearance.

Constructed over 500 linear feet of retaining wall at an average depth of 8.5 feet to support the site’s new features and prevent erosion.
