Project Overview:

DCFL is proud to contribute to the modernization of Florida’s energy infrastructure through the construction of the Disston Substation to 40th Street Substation 230kV Underground Transmission Line. This critical project, spanning over three miles, is a testament to DCFL’s ability to deliver large-scale, high-complexity utility solutions with precision and expertise.​​​​
Scope of Work:
This extensive project involves:​​​
  • Duct Bank Construction:

    • Installation of over three miles of duct bank, including:

      • Eight (8) 8-inch PVC conduits.

      • Two (2) 3-inch PVC conduits.

      • Three (3) 2-inch PVC conduits.

    • Placement of over 4,150 cubic yards of thermal concrete for the encasement of conduits.

  • Vault Installation:

    • Construction and installation of 14 electrical vaults measuring 25’ x 6’ x 8’.

    • Installation of seven (7) communications vaults to support the transmission line’s communication needs.

  • Roadway Restoration:

    • Over 21,900 square yards of asphaltic concrete for roadway restoration, ensuring minimal disruption and full functionality of the affected streets.

  • Permitting and Environmental Compliance:

    • Acquisition of multiple permits, including:

      • Right-of-Way (ROW) permits from Pinellas County and the City of Saint Petersburg.

      • Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) permits due to the project’s proximity to wetlands and the need for dewatering operations.

  • Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Plans:

    • Development of detailed traffic management plans to minimize disruption to the local community during construction.
